Dillon MacIntyre joins the SBCC Trombone Choir for a Master Class and concert on April 22nd, 2023

Dillon MacIntyre joins the SBCC trombone ensembles for a Master Class in the FéBland Forum on April 22nd, from 10 am – 1 pm (subject to change).

He will then join the SBCC trombone choir for a special concert on April 22nd at 7 pm, also in the FéBland Forum on SBCC’s west campus.

“Dillon MacIntyre is the Principal Trombone for the Santa Barbara Symphony, and a freelance musician based in Los Angeles, California. In addition to tenor trombone he also performs on alto trombone, bass trombone, euphonium, and piano. Dillon is an adjunct professor at Cal State LA, and maintains an active private lessons studio. He is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin (BM) and Northwestern University (MM), and he completed a study abroad at the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus, Denmark. His primary instructors have been Dr. Nathaniel Brickens, Michael Mulcahy, Douglas Wright, Timothy Higgins, Randall Hawes, Christopher Davis, Niels-Ole Bo Johansen, and Noel Wallace. 

Dillon’s performing experiences have taken him around the world and include performances with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Los Angeles Opera, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Andrea Bocelli, Sacramento Philharmonic and Opera, Pageant of the Masters, Fresno Philharmonic, Prinsens Musikkorps Military Band, Aarhus Brass Band, and many more. He has won a number of competitions and awards, including various International Trombone Festival competitions, several American Trombone Workshop competitions, Southeast Trombone Symposium Orchestral Excerpts and Solo competitions, the Steven Zellmer Trombone Competition, and Denmark National Brass Competition.”

Note – previously, the guest artist was Alex Iles, but he had to bow out and Dillon has graciously stepped in to replace Alex.
