Yesterday, Opera Santa Barbara treated students and community members to a free vocal masterclass, featuring members of Chrisman Studio Artist program led by Layna Chianakas, (director of this weekend’s production) and accompanied by Tim Accurso (principal pianist and administrator of OSB)
Each of the nine professional singers performed an aria, and Chianakas worked through elements of their performances, including acting, staging, movement and vocal production.
The youngest member of the group that performed was Cambria Metzinger, a graduate of SBCC in Music. It was amazing for our students to meet someone who is just beginning her career in music performance. She will return in November to do a lecture demonstration for the vocal classes.
